Goodco Z-Tech recently obtained a contract for the fabrication of expansion joints in the scope of the rehabilitation of the Champlain Bridge located in Montreal, Quebec.
The contract, which was granted by The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI), is for the fabrication of four Goodflex bolt-down joints measuring 80 ft. (24.3 m) each. The expansion joints will be fabricated between March and April and be delivered to the site in May.
Goodco Z-Tech equally concluded an agreement last fall with St.Lawrence Erectors for the design and fabrication of 12 elastomeric unidirectional pot bearings (PMG) to replace the structural bearings in sections 2, 4, 7 and 8 of the Jacques Cartier Bridge, also located in Montreal. Fabrication of these components began in January and will continue through April, while deliveries are slated to take place from February to mid-May. The replacement work, which is being executed underneath the bridge structure, will entail complete bridge closures during night hours in order to avoid the additional weight caused by circulating traffic.
